Team CSC Dominates Tour Mediterranean

TOULON, France--- After a hard week of early season racing around the French Riviera, Jorg Jaksche and his CSC teammates stormed to victory in the fifth and final stage of the Tour Mediterranean. In what team CSC team manager and 1996 Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis called a perfect ride, the CSC crew crushed the field and swept the top three podium spots for the day, and also clinched the top three spots for the overall victory. Jaksche and teammate Ivan Basso were tied for the win but Riis decided that top honors should go to Jaksche---perhaps to reward his perseverance in overcoming pre-race illness and a first stage crash. This is Jaksche's first victory as a pro.
